The popularity of escape room teambuilding is no surprise; it thrusts employees into an immersive environment that delivers jolts of adrenaline no office can match!

As exciting as Mondays get.

However, for organisations in Malaysia that view team building as a genuine employee development tool, activities like these often risk being little more than a day of fun, which is why D Jungle’s BREAKOUT! was designed.

With no compromise on the thrill of an escape room experience, our trainers have built in a structured layer of learning and reflection that ensure carryover into workplace collaboration.

Programme overview

Breakout is a prison-themed escape room scenario with cells, dimly lit corridors, alarms, and dangerous inmates that tests your team’s communication and collaboration under pressure. With multiple outcomes based on team decisions, Breakout facilitates reflection on leadership dynamics, decision-making, and the power of teamwork in overcoming constraints.

Introduction

We begin with a brief ice-breaking session to help everyone relax and prepare for the activity.

Trainers introduce themselves, explain the overall methodology of the programme, and depending on the vibe, will take participants through some light group activities.

The escape room begins!

Teams are thrust into a high-stakes scenario where they are ‘imprisoned’ and must work together to break free. As they navigate a hostile environment, participants must:

  • gather limited information about their surroundings
  • identify allies and potential threats
  • overcome unexpected obstacles, and above all
  • strategise their escape plan under pressure

As the story unfolds and the tension rises, every decision counts. Teams must think fast, communicate clearly, and adapt to unpredictable twists that determine whether they break out or remain locked in by the end.

Post-activity reflection

This is the part where we connect their in-game behaviors to real-world workplace situations.

Teams are led through a reflection session by our trainers where they examine how the outcome was a result of:

  • communication patterns
  • leadership dynamics, and
  • trust (or lack thereof)

This reveals insights that would otherwise remain hidden in everyday workplace routines, and they learn to identify what makes their team effective and where improvement is needed.
